Introduction...
Losing
a loved one or
close relative can be
a traumatic experience even after a prolonged illness,
and no matter how strong we may feel at the time, nothing
can prepare us for the reality when it finally comes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It
can be particularly hard
for those who are left who may have no immediate family or
friends and are left wondering how they will cope after
the funeral.
Many
already finding it difficult to
keep their own affairs in order are suddenly confronted
with the need to sort out those of a distant relative or
life long partner...when they themselves may be unwell
or simply feel unable to face the enormity of the task
alone.
Often
there are houses to sell and
maintain, contents and personal effects to be sorted and
sold, bills to pay, people to notify and a host of host
of other things which have to be done...the list is endless
as anyone who has been through a similar situation will
tell you.
Those
who have family members on hand to
help at these times are deemed fortunate, often remaining
relatives may live a considerable distance away and find
it impossible to provide the level of support necessary
at these times.
On
these occasions many have felt the need for
some sort of bereavement service which would provide practical
ongoing help in a variety of ways for family and friends,
as well as those who may be facing an uncertain future
on their own.
